Prin natura meseriei sale - arhitect - Andrei Pandele s-a apucat de fotografiat prin 1970, mai ales în București. ”Începuse perioada demolărilor, nimeni nu avea un plan, totul se făcea după bunul plac al dictatorului”, spune el. A început să tragă cadre, pentru că istoria dispărea din fața ochilor. ”Imediat m-au ochit. În primul an și jumătate, am fost interogat de peste 30 de ori”, își aduce aminte. ”După doi ani de distrugeri arhitectonice, am decis să imortalizez și mai mult”.

Nu s-a oprit numai la clădiri, a pozat și viața de zi cu zi, din ce în ce mai grea. Cozi la carne pe o vreme de nu puteai scoate un câine din casă, oameni agățați de ușile ori tampoanele tramvaielor, Revoluția Română, Bucureștiul în anii '80. A ajuns și în țară, la Craiova ori Iași, a imortalizat cozi imense la benzină. A pozat și bucurii, atât cât puteau exista ele: fete frumoase, nunți, oameni la munca de pe câmp. După 1990, aceste imagini s-au transformat în aur. A expus în Franța, Polonia, Amsterdam ori Moscova.
