Studiourile Marvel lansează o echipă nouă, Gardienii galaxiei! Aceasta lărgeşte universul Marvel pānă īn adāncurile cosmosului, unde aventurierul Peter Quill se trezeşte ţinta unei periculoase urmăriri după ce fură un glob cu puteri misterioase. Īncercarea de a dejuca planurile lui Ronan, un villain ce ameninţă soarta īntregului univers, īl face pe Peter să formeze o echipă cu invincibilul Drax Distrugătorul, cu mortala Gamora, cu Groot, un umanoid cu formă de copac, şi cu ratonul Rocket. Dar cānd Peter descoperă adevărata putere a globului şi posibila ameninţare pe care acesta o reprezintă la adresa galaxiei este clar că urmează o luptă pe viaţă şi pe moarte pentru a salva lumea aşa cum o ştim.
